Come out on Saturday, December 10, 2016 to support the Keppel Union boys and girls basketball teams from Alpine, Antelope, Daisy Gibson, Keppel Academy, Lake LA, and Pearblossom. The second day of their two-day tournament starts at 8:00am at Littlerock HS.

Congratulations to the Drama Club at Keppel Academy on their great performance of Bedtime Stories (As Told by Our Dad)(Who Messed Them Up) on Thursday, November 17th at 5:00pm in the auditorium.
Play Details: It's Dad's turn to tell his three rambunctious kids their bedtime stories, but when he gets fuzzy on the details, the classics get creative: a prince with a snoring problem spices up The Princess and The Pea, The Boy Who Cried Wolf cries dinosaur instead, and Rumpelstiltskin helps turn all that pesky gold into straw. You may think you know your fairy tales, but not the way Dad tells them.

The RISE Piute students got up close and personal in their animal education presentation on December 8. The students learned about the habitat and lifestyles of alpacas, tortoises, chickens, goats, and rabbits in a hands-on environment.

The Alpine boys and Keppel Academy girls faced a lot of strong competition on their way to first place victories.

The RISE After School students at Antelope Elementary had an amazing time learning about a variety of incredible animals and their habitat. A special thanks to Reptacular Animals for putting on a great show.

The RISE students at Mesquite Elementary elect grade level representatives to the program's Youth Council. The Youth Council has the opportunity to practice their interviewing and storytelling skills by producing the program's news cast. With the help of the program staff and parent volunteers the students document the program's news, interview staff and students, and even create very imaginative commercial breaks. Great job Mesquite Youth Council!
The students in the RISE After School Program at Tumbleweed have been learning about different acts of kindness and caring. We started a program in which students are in charge of collecting pennies. A plastic 16 oz jar is provided to each student, the students decorate them any way they choose. These jars are called the "Pay it Forward" penny jars. Nothing more than pennies is accepted or allowed. This is not a fund raiser. These pennies are collected weekly by the Program Instructor and distributed at the end of each month to a charitable organization chosen by the winning class. The message we want our students to learn is: Each penny is a small act of kindness and each small act can add up to a big difference

Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the contest to support the foundation. The 9th Annual Darion Wheat Child Abuse Awareness walk will be in Palmdale on 4/25/15 9:00a-12:00p.
The Dancing Feet Youth Ballroom Dance Program will present “An Elementary Elegance Event”, Feb 28, 2015, at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, Van Dam Pavilion. Doors open at 8:15. This event is open to the public cost of admission is $5 per competition session. There will be three competition sessions; 5th Grade Dance Competition starts at 9:00 a.m., 7-8th Grade Dance Competition starts at 11:00 a.m., and the 6th Grade Dance Competition starts at 3:00 p.m. There will be vendors on site and the concession stand will be open.
Congratulations to all of the students who played in the tournament! There was great sportsmanship and a lot of fun throughout the day. The Lake LA girls and Keppel Academy boys took first place and are bringing the trophies to their school.
