POSITION TITLE: Program Instructor / On-Call Substitute Program Instructor
LOCATIONS: Santa Clarita Valley school sites in Castaic, Canyon Country, and Newhall (Castaic Union, Newhall, and Sulphur Springs School Districts)
REPORTS TO: Site Coordinator, District Coordinator, or Program Manager
STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: After-school shifts, approximately 3–6 hours per day, and before-school shifts, approximately 1.5–2.5 hours per day. Schedule and site assignments may vary based on program needs.
STARTING PAY RATE: $19.00 per hour ($19.50 per hour after successful completion of the probationary period). Before-school Program Instructors assigned to the Castaic Union School District earn an extra $3 for each before-school shift.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Program Instructors provide academic support, enrichment activities, and supervision for elementary and middle school students (Grades TK–8) in RISE’s school programs. This role ensures a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where students can learn, play, and grow.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Supervise and actively engage students to ensure a safe and positive program environment.
· Provide homework assistance and academic support to individuals and small groups.
· Plan and lead structured enrichment and fitness activities, including sports, art, music, drama, and games.
· Assist in the planning and facilitation of special events and projects.
· Support student recruitment and retention efforts.
· Maintain accurate attendance and activity records as required.
· Attend required trainings, meetings, and professional development workshops.
· Communicate effectively with students, families, and coworkers in a respectful and professional manner.
· Perform other related duties as assigned to support program operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
· Must pass an academic proficiency exam.
· Must successfully complete a Live Scan fingerprint background check and provide a negative TB test result prior to working with students.
· Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience working with school-age youth in educational or enrichment settings.
· Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
· Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and student needs.
· Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred but not required).
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to stand and actively supervise students for extended periods (up to four or more hours per day).
· Ability to stoop, bend, climb, walk, and lift up to 40 pounds.
· Work is typically performed in classroom, playground, and outdoor settings with moderate noise levels.
· Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
· May be required to attend occasional evening or weekend events.

Position Summary
The HR Clerk position requires adaptability, strong organization, and comfort working in an environment where systems and processes continue to evolve. While the organization is established, growth requires flexibility, follow-through, and the ability to support HR operations without relying on rigid or fully standardized procedures. This role is fully in-office and involves handling confidential employee information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
HR Administration & Records
Maintain accurate and organized employee personnel files, both physical and electronic
Scan, file, organize, and archive HR documentation in accordance with retention and compliance requirements
Enter and update employee data in HR systems as directed
Track completion of required employment documents and follow up as needed
Provide support to the HR team with various tasks as needed
Onboarding & Employment Support
Assist with onboarding for new hires across multiple programs and school sites
Prepare onboarding materials and track completed documentation
Support I-9 documentation processes and internal audits as assigned
Operational Support in a Growing Organization
Provide administrative support as HR priorities shift over time
Adapt to changing procedures, staffing needs, and timelines
Assist with documenting, refining, and organizing HR processes as they are developed
Support HR projects related to staffing, compliance, training, and program expansion
Communication & Coordination
Respond to basic employee questions and route inquiries appropriately
Coordinate with program staff and office personnel to ensure timely HR support
Assist with scheduling HR-related meetings, trainings, or appointments
Confidentiality & Compliance
Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Follow evolving HR policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
Escalate inconsistencies or concerns promptly to company leadership
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
At least 1 year of administrative or clerical experience
Strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and evolving processes
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
Proficiency with email, word processing, and spreadsheets
Reliable attendance and ability to work on-site Monday–Friday
Preferred
Prior HR or education-sector experience
Familiarity with onboarding, employee records, or compliance documentation
Experience supporting multiple locations or departments
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Office environment with prolonged periods of sitting
Regular use of computers, scanners, and office equipment
