WE'LL HELP YOU GET STARTED
Experience working with children is helpful, but isn't required for most Program Instructor positions. We provide paid training and look for people who are dependable, patient, engaged, and willing to learn.

PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR
SANTA CLARITA VALLEY
Castaic & Canyon Country, CA
Starting at $21.00/hour
$21.50/hour after successful completion of probation
Part-time • Weekdays
Before- and after-school opportunities
Work directly with students by providing homework support, leading enrichment and fitness activities, supervising groups, and helping create a safe and positive program.
PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR
ANTELOPE VALLEY
Lancaster, Littlerock, Lake Los Angeles, Palmdale, and Pearblossom, CA.
Starting at $21.00/hour
$21.50/hour after successful completion of probation
Part-time • Weekdays
Before- and after-school opportunities
Work directly with students by providing homework support, leading enrichment and fitness activities, supervising groups, and helping create a safe and positive program.
ACADEMIC TUTOR
LANCASTER, CA
Starting at $28.00/hour
Approximately 3–6 hours per week
Afternoon shifts
Work with small groups of students in grades 3–6 and provide focused Math and English Language Arts support using RISE and school district materials.
Still in high school? RISE has a separate employment pathway for qualified high school seniors.
A DAY AT RISE
What does a Program Instructor actually do?
No two afternoons are exactly the same, but a typical shift may include:
GREET
Welcome students, take attendance, and help everyone transition into the program.
ACTIVE SUPERVISION
Actively supervise students during recess, snack, meals, transitions, and other program activities to make sure students are safe, accounted for, and appropriately engaged.
HOMEWORK & PENCIL PRACTICE
Help students complete homework and lead Pencil Practice to reinforce important academic skills.
LEARNING CENTERS
Lead Learning Centers that give students structured opportunities to practice skills, explore interests, and participate in hands-on activities.
READ-ALOUDS
Lead engaging read-alouds that build literacy, comprehension, vocabulary, and a love of reading.
ENRICHMENT
Lead activities such as art, STEM, games, projects, and other hands-on experiences.
FITNESS
Get students moving through sports, organized games, fitness activities, and outdoor play while maintaining active supervision.
RELATIONSHIP
Build positive relationships with students, encourage them, help them work through everyday challenges, and create a welcoming group environment.
DISMISSAL
Help make sure students are safely released to an authorized adult and that all sign-out and dismissal procedures are followed.
what we look for
You don't need to have worked in an after-school program before. We look for people who will show up, stay engaged with students, follow procedures, work well with others, and take responsibility for keeping students safe.

Are dependable and arrive ready to work
Can stay focused and actively supervise students throughout your shift
Are comfortable leading activities and speaking in front of a group
Can be patient while still setting clear expectations for students

Are willing to learn, accept feedback, and follow established procedures
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
At least 18 years old
High school diploma or equivalent
Successfully complete an academic proficiency exam
Successfully complete a Live Scan fingerprint background check
Provide required TB clearance
Be legally authorized to work in the United States
Have reliable transportation to your assigned school site

ACADEMIC PROFICIENCY TEST
Positions working directly with students require applicants to successfully complete an academic proficiency assessment.

JOB OFFER & ONBOARDING
Selected candidates receive an employment offer and instructions for completing the remaining onboarding requirements.

Most RISE positions are part-time, Monday through Friday, on days when school is in session. After-school programs generally operate from school dismissal until 6:30 p.m. Before-school schedules are also available and vary by school site.
