POSITION: Program Instructor and On-Call Substitute Program Instructor
LOCATION: Santa Clarita Area (Castaic, Canyon Country, and Newhall)
STARTING PAY RATE: $18.25/hr
SCHEDULE: Part time. Morning and afternoon shifts available. Approximately 3-6 hours per day.  Schedule and shifts will vary depending on school site and season (school year or summer)

DESCRIPTION : 

Program Instructors provide supervision, tutoring, homework help, and lead enrichment lessons for elementary school students. Candidates must be able to design, coordinate and lead organized sports activities and enrichment projects such as art, music, games, and drama. 

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and high school graduate or equivalent,

  • Must pass academic exam, Livescan background screening, and provide negative TB certificate

  • Supervise all program participants to ensure a safe and organized program

  • Attend meetings and events in the evenings and weekends as necessary

  • Assist with the planning and facilitation of special projects and events

  • Assist with the recruitment and retention of students

  • Attend staff development trainings and workshops

  • Perform other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Stand for four plus hours per day

  • Stoop, bend, climb, and walk frequently

POSITION: Newhall Creek Project Coordinator
LOCATION: McGrath Elementary and Newhall Elementary Schools

STARTING PAY RATE: $22.50/hr
SCHEDULE: Part time, 12-15 hours per week.  Afternoon shifts, Monday-Friday, variable (Fridays are a must)

DESCRIPTION : 

The Newhall Creek Project Coordinator will work with the RISE district management to implement a multi-year grant program focused on teaching students about watershed conservation, impact of people and pollution on water sources and native plants.

The RISE program is in two schools:  Newhall and McGrath Elementary Schools, whose school year runs from August through early June.  RISE will work with the availability of the person selected for this position to oversee and guide the program.

IDEAL CANDIDATES:

  • Science or education background

  • Have some experience (or looking to gain experience) working with school-aged children

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Available at least three afternoons per week regularly, from 2:30-6:30 p.m., and from 12:30-6:30 on Fridays

  • Can lead field trips into the Newhall Creek

  • Will be available during the 2024-25 school year, as well as the end of this school year

POSITION: Instructional Assistant (Mod/Severe)
LOCATION:  Keppel Union School District schools
STARTING PAY RATE:  $19.00-$23.00/hr
SCHEDULE:  Part time. Afternoon shifts available. Approximately 3-6 hours per day.  Schedule and shifts will vary depending on school site.    

DESCRIPTION

The Instructional Aide will provide support for students with disabilities (IEP students) in the after-school program and support the Program Instructor leading the student group. After school program components include snack, homework help, recess, enrichment, and fitness.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Must be employed by KUSD in the same position.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and high school graduate or equivalent,

  • Must pass academic exam, Livescan background screening, and provide negative TB certificate

  • Supervise all program participants to ensure a safe and organized program

  • Attend events in the evenings and weekends as necessary
