POSITION: Program Instructor and On-Call Substitute Program Instructor
LOCATION: Newhall, CA - McGrath and Newhall Elementary Schools
STARTING PAY RATE: $13.50/hr
SCHEDULE: Part time;  Monday-Thursday 2:40-6:00pm;  Friday 12:15-6:00pm

DESCRIPTION : 

Program Instructors provide supervision, tutoring, homework help, and lead enrichment lessons for elementary school students. Candidates must be able to design, coordinate and lead organized sports activities and enrichment projects such as art, music, games, and drama. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Supervise all program participants to ensure a safe and organized program

  • Attend events in the evenings and weekends as necessary

  • Assist with the planning and facilitation of special projects and events

  • Assist with the recruitment and retention of students

  • Attend staff development trainings and workshops

  • Must pass academic exam, Livescan background screening, and provide negative TB certificate• Perform other duties as assigned

Ideal candidates are adaptable, energetic, motivated, and have excellent communication and organization skills. Ideal candidates have experience working with school age children and show an ability to have positive interaction with children and adults.

SCHEDULE: Part time, Afternoon shift available:  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 2:15-6:30pm; Wednesday: 12:25 - 6:30pm (when school is in session). Schedule will vary on non-school days.

Part time, Morning shift available:  Monday - Friday:  6:20-7:45am (when school is in session)

Part time shifts also available Monday - Friday on non school days.

LOCATION:  Antelope Valley School Sites (Keppel Union, Lancaster, Palmdale, and Wilsona School Districts)
STARTING PAY RATE:  $12.50/hr
SCHEDULE:  Part time, approximately 3-4 hours per day.  Schedule and frequency vary depending on coverage area.  

Description:  Provides the duties of a Program Instructor (below) on an on-call basis at multiple program sites.

Program Instructors provide supervision, tutoring, homework help, and lead enrichment lessons for Elementary & Middle School students.  Candidates must be able to design, coordinate and lead organized sports activities and enrichment projects such as art, music, games, and drama.  Ideal candidates are adaptable, energetic, organized, and have CPR/First Aid certification, college credit in child development/education and experience working with children in a teaching, tutoring, sports leadership, or child-care environment.  Approximately 12-18 hours per week.    

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (Schedule varies)
• Supervise all program participants to ensure a safe and organized program
• Attend events in the evenings and weekends as necessary
• Assist with the planning and facilitation of special projects and events
• Assist with the recruitment and retention of students
• Attend staff development trainings and workshops
• Must pass academic exam, Livescan background screening, and provide negative TB certificate

  • Have earned a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Must have strong multitasking skills and able to work in a fast-paced environmenT

  • Provide a negative TB test certificate (valid within last 4 years)

  • Pass a background clearance
